School Holiday Code Camps For Kids Aged 5 - 10

Our next school holiday program will take place in Footscray on October 1st - 3rd. Places are strictly limited, so get it quick!

WHY IS CODING IMPORTANT?

"In fifteen years, we'll be teaching programming just like reading and writing... and wondering why we didn't do it sooner." - Mark Zuckerberg

When your child finishes their secondary schooling, the world will be a very different place. Computers and connected devices will continue to shape our world and an inability to code will be just as debilitating as illiteracy and innumeracy is today.

If your child has not yet been introduced to computer programming skills, now is the perfect time to give them the right tools to help them thrive in the future.

FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK CODE

Centred around a picture story book adventure, Yellow Brick Code aims to make students' first experiences with coding fun to ensure future success.

They will be introduced to four clever little code blocks who live in Codeland, a tiny city inside a computer. Codeland is a fun place to live; there are games and apps to play with, and everyone who lives there gets to create anything that they can imagine.

The city of Codeland is powered by 9 magic batteries, which provide all of the energy to keep all of the games and apps running. The problem is that the magic batteries are starting to run flat. Soon, there won’t be enough power to keep Codeland running and the code blocks won’t be able to play games, use apps, or create interesting things. Without batteries, Codeland will be dark and boring.

Will your child join Kieran, Christina, Chloe and Cody on an adventure through Codeland over the holidays to find 9 new batteries while learning to code along the way?

KIERAN

While new to coding, Kieran is friendly, courageous and persistent. He is always willing to try new things.

CHRISTINA

A natural leader, Christina is confident and patient. She can always find a logical solution to any problem she's faced with.

CHLOE

Chloe is fun, cheerful and creative. She often comes up with unique ideas and always enjoys a good laugh!

CODY

Cody is careful and meticulous. He's very good at spotting bugs and fixing them.

WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN?

Over 3 days, your child will learn skills to produce their own programs and video games through a unique story book adventure! Abstract concepts will be made concrete through stories, videos, hands on physical activities, games and fun programming challenges. Even if your child has never coded before, by the end of the course, you will be amazed at their creations! The future has never been brighter.

"Learning to write programs stretches your mind, and helps you think better, creates a new way of thinking about things that I think is helpful in all domains." - Bill Gates
